March is National Nutrition Month and The Hanna and Herbert Bauer Memorial Community Garden is celebrating by hosting a free spring “Gardening 101” class. This class will cover the basics of planning and planting your summer garden for maximizing harvest by learning about the recommended varieties for our area and optimal planting times, employing vertical gardening methods and utilizing space-saving crop varieties, and how to maintain your summer garden throughout the growing season for keeping it healthy and productive. The class will be taught by UC Master Gardener Diana Gomez Neves who has a wealth of farming knowledge from operating her own local vegetable farm.
