Yolo County Public Information Officer Jenny Tan Awarded National Asian Pacific Americans in Politics & Public Affairs Award
(Woodland, CA) – On Tuesday, May 18, Yolo County Public Information Officer, Jenny Tan, was selected to be on the National Association of Asian Pacifics in Politics and Public Affairs (NAAPPPA) Top 40 Under 40 List. This award is presented to the top 40 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) political operatives and public affairs professionals under 40 years of age and highlights the growing number of rising AAPI professionals leading in their respective fields related to government and politics.
Nominated by Yolo County Third District Supervisor, Gary Sandy, Ms. Tan led communications during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the LNU Lightning Complex Fires. She has been recognized as the voice of Yolo County, working to keep the community updated through clear and authentic communications. Tan, along with a small team of staff, has been responsible for +100 press releases, +1,000 social media posts, +600 media interviews, and +1,000 flyers and graphics throughout the pandemic – from new cases, to testing and now to vaccinations.
Among the recipients of the NAAPPPA 40 under 40 award are legislative staff and professionals specializing in political campaigns, direct mail, polling, communications, political compliance, fundraising, public and government affairs, media relations, and legislative advocacy.
“This year has been extremely humbling,” said Ms. Tan. “I am honored to do this work for my agency and to be recognized by NAAPPPA. No matter your ethnicity or background, we all have the ability to be great public servants and step up when our community needs us the most.”
“Under the most difficult and challenging of circumstances, Jenny Tan consistently provided useful and accurate information” said Supervisor Sandy. “Her poise, professionalism, and preparation served the communities of Yolo County well as she navigated through the pandemic, wildfires, and a host of other issues, including invaluable work on the census. She truly embodied the spirit, caring, and compassion that exemplifies the character of Yolo County.”
NAAPPPA publishes a yearly list of top AAPI professionals who work as public operatives and in public affairs and strives to promote AAPI excellence in political consulting, public affairs, and legislative advocacy.
