PRESS RELEASE
The Yolo County Women’s History Month celebration is scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Gibson House property, located at 512 Gibson Rd, in Woodland, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This year's theme, "Women Who Advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion," acknowledges women across the nation who recognize that to foster a positive future, we must eradicate bias and discrimination from our lives and institutions completely.
Keynote speakers for the event include Tessa Smith, the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator, and Dr. Dawnte Early, West Sacramento City Council member, and CEO of United Way California Capital Region. Both women have been influential advocates for fundamental inclusion, equality, and fairness within civic and community groups, businesses, and legislative bodies.
This celebration is free and open to the public, with keynote speeches commencing at 11:00 a.m. Following the presentations, hors d'oeuvres will be served.
Sponsorship opportunities are available on the Yolo County Women’s History Month website at www.YCWHM.org. Proceeds from the celebration will benefit the Yolo County Library, the Woodland Public Library, and local women’s organizations.
