Monica Brushia graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a BA in History in 1991 and then attended the University of Arizona, College of Law, in Tucson, where she graduated in May 1994. She was admitted to the California State Bar in December 1994 and Federal Court in January 1995.
Monica began working in Yolo County in February 1997. On December 23, 2007, she became a Supervisor and for the past few years has been a Felony Team Supervisor. In addition, Monica helps to coordinate and keep track of the Public Defender’s Speakers Bureau (Public Defender’s Community Service, such as attorneys speaking at schools, mentoring, Moot Court coaches and judges). Lastly, in 2014 she became a member of the Yolo County Employee Commission. The Commission tries to foster interagency cooperation, and most importantly, a venue for employee likes and dislikes. Monica celebrated her 20th anniversary as an attorney and public defender in December of 2014.
