TARA THRONSON
Tara Thronson is serving as Chief of Staff to Supervisor Frerichs after serving for seven years as Deputy to Supervisor Saylor in Yolo County District 2. Tara was formerly a Project Leader at Valley Vision, a nonprofit social enterprise that strengthens communities in the Sacramento region through research, collaboration and leadership. For six years she managed a range of regional initiatives at Valley Vision to improve the economic, social, and environmental prosperity of the Sacramento Capital Region. In 2014 Tara introduced Village Square to the Sacramento region, a national effort that enables civil dialogue among neighbors on tough public policy topics. Through her role co-managing the Cleaner Air Partnership, she helped the business and public health communities mutually agree on strategies that lead to cleaner air in the Sacramento region. Previously Tara helped cultivate and manage the Connected Capital Area Broadband Consortium. She was often called the resident “broadband evangelist,” spreading the word about the positive economic and social equity impacts resulting from a population who understands how to navigate the web and has regular access to high-speed Internet.
From an early age Tara has wanted to make a positive impact on her community. Throughout her career and volunteer efforts she has viewed her work through the lens of striving to make the world a better place for everyone. Tara finds that connecting with people who have had different life experiences helps shape her worldview and inspires her to strive to be a better person every day.
When not serving the people of District 2, Tara enjoys running (on her own or with her kiddos’ running club), spending time with her husband and two school-aged children, listening to some good tunes, drinking wine, and enjoying the beauty of California.
EMILY AULT
Emily Ault is serving as the District Representative to Supervisor Frerichs in Yolo County, District 2.
Emily has a background in education, working as a public school teacher in the Bay Area before moving to the Sacramento region. She has also worked at UC Davis, her alma mater (Go Ags!), with the Cal Aggie Alumni Association (CAAA) team; she helped establish a positive parenting non-profit, Family Hui, in Yolo County; and she previously worked for Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), on both the Maternal, Child, Adolescent Health (MCAH) team and on the county’s emergency COVID-19 response team. Emily is thrilled to be returning to work directly with Yolo County as Supervisor Frerichs’ Assistant Deputy.
Emily is a long-time Davis resident and actively engaged in the community. She and her husband, Ben, have raised three amazing kids, who are now young adults. While their kids attended Davis schools, Emily volunteered for many community based organizations: multiple PTA executive boards; the Davis Schools Foundation board; as publicity chair for Davis Parent University; and as a board member for Thriving Pink, a Yolo County-based breast cancer support organization.
For the past five years, Emily has served as a volunteer leader with California Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (a grassroots, non-partisan gun violence prevention organization), first as a local lead in Yolo County and currently as a state legislative lead.
In her free time, you might find Emily going for a run or walk with friends, playing pickleball, reading or playing board/card games.
Emily strives to live and work in ways that reflect her values of serving the greater good and lifting up others. She is excited to support Supervisor Frerichs’ work in serving District 2.
