Tuberculosis Information

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is one of the most deadly diseases in the world. It is estimated that 2 billion people in the world are infected with TB.

The Yolo County Tuberculosis Control Program works closely with health care providers to ensure that all TB cases are identified and treated effectively to prevent spread of this disease in our community.

If your work or school requires that you have a TB skin test, please contact your primary care provider for the placement of the skin test, the reading of the skin test and any follow-up diagnostic procedures.

Physicians & Health Care Provider

Physicians and health care providers are required by California Code of Regulations, Title 17 to report ALL SUSPECTED cases of TB to the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency within one working day of identification. The Yolo County Tuberculosis Control Program follows up on all reports by confirming diagnosis, coordinating and overseeing treatment, and screening at-risk contacts exposed to TB cases. View directions for reporting a disease.
