Yolo County issues State of California Medical Marijuana ID Cards (MMIC). If you are a Yolo County resident, you may apply for an MMIC which will exempt your cannabis purchases from sales and use tax in California and may be accepted by jurisdictions that do not permit the use of recreational cannabis. The cost to apply is $68 ($34 for Medi-Cal patients.) The MMIC is good for one year.

Obtain a written recommendation from your Attending Physician for the use of medical marijuana for one or more serious medical conditions on their form or Form CDPH 9044 English | Spanish

Complete the Consent for the Release of Confidential Information
If you wish to obtain a MMIC for your caregiver, you may add them to your application or submit an application at a later date. You must appear with your caregiver at the time of their application.
Once you have completed your application documents, email them to Julie.Cross@YoloCounty.org for review. We will schedule an in-person appointment in Woodland or let you know what additional documentation is needed.

Bring the following items to your appointment
- Valid government issued photographic identification card, such as California Driver's license or ID card, passport, Military ID or Temporary Resident Identification Card (Green Card)
- Proof of Residency in Yolo County, such as a current rent or mortgage receipt or agreement, utility bill or California Motor Vehicle registration with your current name and address
- Medical Marijuana Identification Card Fees only cash or check. Application fees are nonrefundable
- New Patient Application Fee $68 (yearly)
- New Caregiver Application Fee $68 (yearly)
- Renewal Fee $68 (yearly)
- Medi-Cal Participation Application Fee $34 (yearly) with proof of Medi-Cal participation
- Medically indigent adult who participates in the CMSP Fee waived with proof of CMSP participation
- Your Photo Will Be Taken at this Appointment
Once you have completed your application, we are required by the State to verify your medical documentation. You must provide a telephone number and email address for your doctor. Please note that we have been unable to verify medical documentation from doctors in the U.C. Davis system. If your documentation is from the U.C. Davis system, please discuss verification with your provider before submitting an application and let us know how to proceed. We are not able to approve an application unless we can verify your documentation.
If you submit an incomplete application and/or fail to provide all the previously mentioned information, we will advise you of the problem within 30 days. You will have 30 days from that date to correct your application or it will be denied. Fees for denied applications are not refundable.
