The Ellen’s House program will provide services for at least eight local residents simultaneously who are justice-involved but who have been selected to be part of this program based on an evidence based screening and assessment, their commitment to their recovery and their ability to fully participate in the program and meet its various terms and condition. Participants will include those suffering from substance use disorders, experiencing homelessness and who may have co-occurring mental health disorders.
Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency will contract with Yolo Wayfarer Center to provide all services. Yolo Wayfarer Center current operates Walter’s House, a residential substance use 44 bed program located in Woodland.

- 24/7 onsite staff for oversight and support
- Registered, certified, and licensed staff providing
- Evidence-based assessments and treatment planning
- Evidence-based group and individual counseling services
- Case management support to connect clients with:
- Appropriate long-term housing
- Employment
- Physical health
- Mental health
- Program is built on the successful model of Walter’s House operated by Yolo Wayfarer Center in Yolo County which has the following outcomes:
- 90-100% reduction in jail bed days compared to 6 months prior to treatment
- 100% reduction in substance use for those that completed treatment
- Reported significant increase in their ability to manage their daily lives
- Reported significant increase in relationships with family
- Reported significant improvement in their school and/or work situation
- Reported significant improvement in their housing situation
- Staff are comprised of registered and/or certified substance use counselors, registered and/or licensed mental health clinicians, appropriate medical staffing to oversee the two detoxification clients, and program supervisors and managers
