Juvenile Justice Commission

The Yolo County Juvenile Justice Commission is a state-mandated, court-appointed authority. The broad purpose of the Commission is to inquire into the administration of juvenile court law in Yolo County. 

Duties: Annually, juvenile justice commissions throughout the state inspect any jail or lockup within the county which in the preceding calendar year was used for confinement for more than 24 hours of any minor. Juvenile justice commission shall report the results of such inspection together with its recommendations based thereon, in writing, to the juvenile court and to the Board of Corrections. 
 
Membership: Juvenile justice commissions shall be comprised of 7-15 citizens, with two or more members being of 14-21 years of age. Application for membership is made by the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court with the concurrence of the Judge of the Juvenile Court. Members of the Yolo County Juvenile Justice Commission must be residents of Yolo County. Appointments are four (4) years in duration.

Meetings: Commission meetings are held the 2nd Thursday of each month and are open to the public. Any person having interest or concern regarding the administration of juvenile justice in Yolo County is welcome to attend.
